The Centre of Knowledge on
Healthy Child Development is dedicated to finding, evaluating
and summarizing only the very
best research on subjects pertinent
to healthy child development and child and youth mental health.

Not all evidence is created equal.

Some research studies may be biased in the way they are designed or the way the data is analyzed or presented.  Some may have too few subjects for the findings to be considered reliable, or the methods used by the researcher may not meet the standards for producing high quality evidence.

Adopting the findings of any single study can be dangerous.  How often have you read about a study that claims certain findings, only to see a later study refute them?

To ensure you have the very best evidence all the time, we summarize only systematic reviews that look at the total body of evidence in a particular field.  These systematic reviews must meet the criteria set by Evidence-Based Mental Health, a publication that reports on the latest developments in mental health research using only the highest standards of evidence.

You will find these systematic reviews posted throughout the web site under the heading A review of the evidence.

Of course, new studies are always being published and reported on in the press. In our What's New sections throughout the web site, we help you make sense of these studies and how they fit with current evidence in the field.

Again, for quick access, you can go directly to a list of new and recent research findings.
